Do you take any action to be more friendly to our environment? Yes, you!

Right from the time I became actively involved in beekeeping, I became aware that our environment somehow needed protection for our sakes and animals around us. You don’t need to be a scientist to notice that there are finite resources on planet Earth and those resources are not equally distributed around the world. If you look at it, making life more environmentally-friendly simply makes sense.

Thankfully some governments, businesses and individuals around the world are beginning to take actions towards being environmentally-friendly.

Unfortunately to many of us, we unconsciously go ahead and live a YOLO lifestyle, which I confess, I am sometimes a part of. There is no doubt in my mind that something bad is coming our way in the future if we continue in this path of ignorance. But if we are all a little more conscious, we can make a reverse impact on our deteriorating planet.

There are many small efforts that can help with sustainability of this planet, but I would like to share with you my small efforts towards being environmentally-friendly.

Bees are some of the hardest working creatures on the planet, and because of their laborious work ethic, we owe many thanks to this amazing yet often under-appreciated insect. Our lives – and the world as a whole – would be a much different place if bees didn’t exist. To illustrate this fact, consider these numbers: bees are responsible for pollinating about one-sixth of the flowering plant species worldwide and approximately 400 different agricultural types of plant.

Planting trees and flowers

In my small yard, I have planted fruit trees, native plants and exotic flowers. I also have a compost and we grow our own vegetables in the garden.

Other activities

I sometimes choose to walk where possible. Though It requires more effort, but it’s good for the environment and good for my body too. I also choose to reuse things for example reusing bags at the grocery store. I also have a number of reusable containers at home such as reusable water bottles and lunch boxes. This all helps me to reduce the amount of trash that I throw away at the end of the day.

So, are you taking any action to be more friendly to our environment?
